The 36/38mm Mic's go straight into the standard manifold because they're made to suit a Mikuni carb.
The stock manifolds will need to have the stock carb alignment tabs cut off to fit the VM36/38, other than that its a fit. PC

Yes, the 'choke' mechanism gets in the way of the tabs as well... SR

Stew plase ignore last post as I have taken old 34 off and now see how 38 fits with a little bit of rubber triming etc but I will need to have manifold skimmed out the same as you did to avoid step inside...TC

Stew I also notice that you have 38 mm connected to standard airbox how did you manage this as my inlet carby is huge !!! TC

Hi TC, Mate looks can be deceiving...I had to remove the airbox unfortunately...left the covers on so it looks OK. I am going to see if there's a way of machining up a spigot of the larger carb inlet diameter to attach to the front of the air box...maybe later...heh, heh... SR

Stew I did have the same problem(assuming 38 is same dimension as my 36), left it with the KN then because it does not change the look of the bike with the covers on. And its not a disadvantage re engine power!
Crancase breather now goes in a hose and a small bottle

Yes, it's nice a simple that way...I did that on an XT I had...I used a small K&N on this one...pinched it off my DCM...until I get another that is... SR

How was the jetting? Is it a standard engine or mod? I will post my jettings later when finished.
Have possibly to change the needle valve. My needle is in highest pos and still struggles in transition from very low to midrange, idle, start and upper revs from 3000 is ok. Main 240, pilot 35, but will check float level first
(standard engine with quite straight thru muffler)

The engine is standard...standard header and stainless Conti replica...38mm Mikuni, (166)...I'll post the jetting once I have fInished playing around. Canberra is at 2.000 ft or thereabouts... SR

Hi Stew I have solved the adapter from carby to airbox problem I was looking around a local hardware store with the brain in neutral as usual and was looking at the plumbing fittings and came across a rubber fitting that is used to block pipes and drains and realised that it might fit over the inlet of carby and it did just had to cut a smaller dia hole in the other side which was blank off centre and it fitted over the airbox inlet beautifully all I need now is some larger worm drive clips and am done ....TC PS Will try and get some pics soon
