Hi all - newbie TG here. I'm moving to Japan (Tokyo) in March for a few years, and will get a bike there. I'm really a v-twin fan (I know, I know, please don't blame me too much) and currently have an SV650 racebike and a Duc 800SS which I've tarted up a bit. Will be selling both and looking for a bike in Japan as my main commute-scoot. Tokyo isn't really friendly to big bikes (expensive to buy, regular exxy roadworthy tests, harder to get a license etc) so I'm considering going for a 400 which falls below the expensive big bike cutoff. I've seen some awesome SR400 customs there, and even given a couple of Deus' machines a run here as a result. Love the look of the cafe-racer style machines, and if I could get one with a bit of engine work to give it some zip, I think it would be ideal for Tokyo and add to the whole cultural experience of my stay there, if you get my drift. So - my question to the forum - does anyone know anything about the Tokyo custom scene? Recommend a place that I can buy a ready-made custom or commission one? Language is going to be a barrier as I don't speak any Japanese yet and it will take me a while to learn the language - so a builder or shop with some English skills would be very useful. Any advice / contacts appreciated - thanks for your help all TG

Hi TG, I visited Orange Boulevarde (OMC) and they certainly had some stuff... Akira, can you assist TG with this? Akira certainly has some contacts over there and a nice SR 500, and he rides with a group of SR riders over there. OMC do have some nice stuff. SR

Some good links there milkman, thanks.
Stewross - thanks, I've checked them out. Some lovely stuff for sure. I'm not a traditionalist though, and while I love the clubman looks at 6'4" they will be too uncomfortable for me to ride. So probably looking at a street tracker / bobber style custom rather. Some interesting stuff on bratstyle, again not quite my style, but perhaps a bit closer, and I'm sure a good custom house could work with me to get something right up my street (thats the point of custom, I guess)

Try AAA or Thruxton, they are fairly broad minded in their builds, AAA love trackers and build bloody beautifull ones, Carl..caferacer mc NSW
