Hi all - newbie TG here.
I'm moving to Japan (Tokyo) in March for a few years, and will get a bike there. I'm really a v-twin fan (I know, I know, please don't blame me too much) and currently have an SV650 racebike and a Duc 800SS which I've tarted up a bit. Will be selling both and looking for a bike in Japan as my main commute-scoot. Tokyo isn't really friendly to big bikes (expensive to buy, regular exxy roadworthy tests, harder to get a license etc) so I'm considering going for a 400 which falls below the expensive big bike cutoff. I've seen some awesome SR400 customs there, and even given a couple of Deus' machines a run here as a result. Love the look of the cafe-racer style machines, and if I could get one with a bit of engine work to give it some zip, I think it would be ideal for Tokyo and add to the whole cultural experience of my stay there, if you get my drift.
So - my question to the forum - does anyone know anything about the Tokyo custom scene? Recommend a place that I can buy a ready-made custom or commission one? Language is going to be a barrier as I don't speak any Japanese yet and it will take me a while to learn the language - so a builder or shop with some English skills would be very useful.
