haven't used thumper stuff mate, but in Sydney I've found Vanem to be really helpful - more for the parts like tanks seats, brakes etc than engine internals but defiintley worth calling Adrian
their site doens't show most of what is in stock so give him a ring, number on the website

Thumperstuff is great. Good prices and fast shipping. And I'm sure others here will echo the same feelings.

Before I found this forum, mark was my only resource for all things thumper related. Parts shipped quickly , priced fairly, but, the greatist thing about Mark was the time he took with me. his advice was priceless and he was always willing to help this novice. I can't say enough good things.

I live in Australia, and value thmperstuff very highly. I know you should shop locally and support local [read Australian] businesses, but they cant compete with Mark's prices and delivery times. It's probably not the fault of the business, but no one can tell me why it takes longer for a package to get from Sydney to Wagga, than it does to get from Chicago to Sydney. Cheers Franky b.

Mark is great. Ships quickly. Prices are fair. Selection is good. But to echo from above, one of the greatest values is the time he takes to make sure you are getting what you need. He's provided advice on what I'm likely to need in addition if I'm replacing X; but also told me what I don't need.

If he thinks you don't need some thing you have ordered he will even try and talk you out of getting it. (definitely not a salesman) I actually went to Marks shop last time I was in the States. He has a lot of stock and quite a few intersting bikes out the back. Regards Alan Case

I bought my SR six years ago and promptly called mark with all sorts of ideas about things I wanted to do (buy)to the bike ,upon learning about the bike ,100%stock,showroom clean,he convinced me to leave it that way ,blowing many hundreds of dollars in sales. I think He even said something like "historic importance".

Dead-stock old bikes should probably be left that way, or get only "bolt on" modifications so they can easily be returned to stock condition. Why buy a 100 point stock bike and throw a bunch of it away to make a special? The nice things about specials is that you can start off by getting to save something that is headed for the scrapyard. Things are a bit different if there are 40,000 examples of dead-stock bikes around. I'm happy to leave the DSB's alone and let someone else pay big money for them, and instead buy the "no chance of ever being entered in a concours d'elegance competition" bikes for cheap, and do with them as I wish. cheers, Michael

As long as the owners of modified bikes are happy to filter the parts they don't need to those building up std or near std bikes (at friendly fellow SR owner rates of course)!!! I'm all in favour of them modifying bikes! Contact me if you have modified an XT into a road bike, there are some fiddly little bits I need! Back to Thumperstuff, Ive found Mark's service to be excellent. One of the few Northern hemisphere SR/XT/TT crowds happy to deal with the other end of the world (New Zealand) and offer a reasonable price on postage (ie. no crippling courier - just postal service rates)
