thanks why i don't drink beer made in the USA, it's horrible. I think your selling us short . On the west coast you have Sierra Nevada Brewery. Great pale ale. You have the Rogue brewery with Dead Guy Ale and Hazelnut Brown Nectar( tastes much better than the name). Also here in the east we have the Highland brewing company Gaelic Ale and Oatmeal porter. Redhook ESB and Long Hammer Pale Ale. Natty Greene brewers have a bunch of good stuff. All sorts of micro-breweries starting up. Do more research, it's fun. What do the guys in OZ think of Fosters Bitter (green can)? I kind of like it for a once in a while. Hard to find here though. Other then Samuel's Collection, I'm not sure I'm in agreement you.

Ah yes Mick I've done just that ! I lived in Dublin for 2 years (85 & 86) loved the Guinness & married a lovely Irish Rose (we still are married too) 22 years this year . Now to get stuck in and build the 78 cafe`. You were right with the Aussie Guinness though they very nearly blew it & lucky for them alot of Irish Aussies put them straight ! Murphey's is quite good too ! Cheers Dave.

glass is good, but i love tins when I'm camping, or when there's water/pool about, basically when ramping up the yobbo factor
As for the Fosters query - i think i remeber it in my oldmans fridge back in the early 80's, but no one here drinks it really, you 'd struggle to find a pub with it on tap.

Glass is the go for me but can be a pain to transport to the desired drinking location when out and about. Darwin stubbies are a good challenge 2litres in every bottle.....

Oz has great beers, quite diverse. My favourites are Coopers Sparkling, Boags Premium Lager, Cascade Premium (in the light too if I must), The VB original recipe, James Squire (Malt Shovel Brewery) never produced a dud beer and their limited release ones eg. Strong Ale and Hop Thief are simply outstanding examples of old styles of beer, worth any amount of trouble to find and obtain. I like Tooheys Old and Carlton Black, though the Carlton is a bit hard to find. VB is good on tap at the local, but the Boags Draft is pretty much on a par with VB similarly packaged. I'll always choose glass over aluminium when it comes home and spends time in the fridge.
There, I've had my say. you get what you pay for, usually, except when buying an imported beer.

My brother gave me a Darwin stubby for Christmas. Just wondering if I will ever actually drink it. Forgot just how bloody big they are. He got one of the truck drivers from his work to pick it up on his run.
I suspect another reason why there is more aluminium in the territory is that the local indig population find it harder to stab each other with a can.
Cheers

Bit of a let down on the Darwin stubby. It is actually carlton draught (which is o.k) Look on the box and it tells you it is bottled by CUB. Was hoping it would be a local NT brewery but i dont think one exists. I got one as a present from my olds when they went to Darwin last year.Tackled it after a day on the beach after drinking one or two bears during the day. Certainly topped the day off to say the least...........
