Sorry buddy, mine just doesn't do that. I have a non-stock Mikuni, but I really haven't read much about SRs stalling. I would definitely not call them unreliable. You may want to repost your question with a better header like "Stalling" or "Reliability", because all of the questions here are about SR500s or 400s. Good luck.

yes.. sorry your right......... sr's never stall........ my mistake.......... in the thirty years or so that I have been riding and happily thrashing any thumper that had the misfortune of ending up under my butt........ xt 550.. xt500.. xr500..... crf450.. yzf250 .. dr250...kl250.. klx250.. and so on.......... not one has ever stalled....... wow....... its like I am in heaven......... what a wonderful day I am having....... all my motorcycles work as they should......... my sr500 starts first kick......... my rd starts second kick......... and does not leak oil......... oh my.............. look....... my yzf 250 is making me a cup of tea.......... and my other sr500 does not rattle... or vibrate...... gee.......... buddy I am happy for you that yours can climb trees.......... but mine just happens to stall every now and then,,,,,,,,, thats all........... I am playing around with carb... and plug... and over haul elec. system......... and one way or another sooner or later the sr will prevail........ in the meantime I welcome any advice... that CAN HELP ME.....

First, Jack, the sarcasm doesn't get you very far here. Second, Your question is in the wrong forum. With that said, mine would do the same thing (stall at a stop light) once and awhile before I got the jetting sorted (running a VM38). What was happening is that it was running rich at idle and loading up. As soon as I opened the throttle, it would die. Sometimes it would die for no apparent reason also. You haven't provided alot of info as to what has or hasn't been modified. It's not really a reliability issue as much as it is a tuning issue. Once they are dialed in, the 500 Yamaha, in all it's various incarnations, is very reliable.

I agree with the other guys, for someone who is asking for help you are very sarcastic when the reply you recieved was not that way at all and Joneil4 was only trying to be helpfull. I also wondered why you had put your tuning question in the suspension section. Feel free to get agressive with me in your reply cause I really don't give a S**T.

However, no need to worry any further about Jacks issue. It seems as though he has had to take leave of our company... LOL! See ya Jack. G Man
