Found a nice 10,000uf/25v aluminum electrolytic cap with screw terminals at Tedss.com. Mallory cap, pn #CGS103U025R3C, $12 each. 1-3/8" diameter by 3-1/8" long
They have a $25 min order and hit me for $11.xx shipping, so effectively buying one each for you and a buddy are $18 each, not too bad. ..
I'll letcha know how it goes after I install it. Should just attach in place of the battery.

Works like a champ. In fact, there's less flicker than there was with the dead battery.

Found these on ebay uk. 19000UF 25V DC ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITOR. New. Size - 105mm high x 50mm across. Weight - 300grms. £6.00 and £2.50 postage. Arrived next day. Connects up directly to existing wiring - screws on top of cap. And best of all works brilliantly. No indicator flicker at all, even at idle. Check out stores.ebay.co.uk/Michaels-Electronics-Emporium

Miker, as denialdeath asked, did you get two?
Can I get one from you?
