I am going to make my SR look like a Flat Track race bike. Can anyone tell me where the best place is to get a tank, seat and tail section?

If you are in the US, there is a website called www.vft.org VFT stands for Vintage Flat Trackers. They have a very good for sale section where I'm sure you will find every bit of tracker stuff you could ever need. Or there is the Omars Dirt Track Racing website. www.omarsdtr.com for brand new bits. In Australia, I believe the seat/tank combo on the white SR400 Streettracker that Deus ex Machina sells can be bought separately for somewhere north of $1100. Mick

I personally would use www.airtech-streamlining.com/I also think that www.vft.org could improve their website SIGNIFICANTLY by dropping the political aspect of it. With a altered photo of Palin on a Harley and a altered photo of Obama on a bicycle (it could be the other way around as well) their political views have NO place on a website such as that. If it were a political based web site, I can understand but, it isn't. VERY poor taste on their part. This is a photo of Air-tech's flat track tank made specifically for 500 Yamaha's They have a number of seats that will work well too.

Is that what those two photos are? I thought the broad looked familiar. They've never done anuthing like that before. Let us hope it is only a momentary lapse of judgement on their part. Coz generally it is a very good site. Mick

Whew just had a look at the air-tech site. They certainly have a big selection. Styling wise, I reckon Omar's stuff looks nicer. Tank is cheaper too. If I had an unlimited budget, the DEUS tank and seat is the one that really rings my bells. Mick

www.deus.com.au/#/bikes/Check out the white SR400 Dirt Tracker. Not everyones cuppa tea, I know, and awfully expensive, and I'm sure the 37mm FCR and Over Racing pipe are not set up as good as Carl would do it, but, man I personally dig this bike. Mick

Does anybody actually pay that kind of money for those bikes over there? Just wondering as every bike mag I look at has the Deus page with prices from 16-20 grand for SR400s(of course done up a bit?)But for that sort of money you could get nearly any of your dreams ! Just wondering cheers Dave .

Here are links to a couple other dirt track part manufacturers. If you are going to use a fiberglass tank, please pay attention to the warnings regarding alcohol fuels. Some of the manufacturers like Omar's and Airtech-Streamlining use additional coatings to minimize the effect of these common fuel additives. That is in large part why their products cost more. PC. Gopher glass, you'll find their website on flattrack.com. Good quality, good price. I use a gopher tank on one of my race bikes, if they handle race abuse, they will handle pretty on the street. Cheers Franky b.

How bad does the alcohol effect the fiberglass tanks? Is it neccessary to drain the fuel after each ride? Here in the midwest we have the ethanol blended gas.

I love the tank on Deus' angel bike but I'm considering picking up the Omar's Trackmaster tank. I am worried about it fitting over the backbone, despite the claim it fits 3" wide oil in frame bikes. :Edit: Found a picture on Omar's site- Here one with his trackmaster tank, looks even better than the Japanese tanks (doesn't have the funky gap between the frame and the rear of the tank)

That is a good looking tank alright!
If the dollar was closer to parity again I'd be first inline to get one. That way I could have a 'show' tank and one for longer rides. Any idea what the capicy on that one would be?

Have a good look at the pi above and you'll see that neither the tank or the seat/fender are fitted to the frame properly. You can see daylight between the seat and the frame rail. The back of the tank is sitting up about 50mils above the frame loop, it should come down over this loop. Also the shock mount point has been changed. Nice tank, nice fender, nice paint job, but the fitup is a bit"how's your father". Cheers Franky b.
