Last summer I walked around a vast bike junkyard for everything non-Harley here in Minnesota, and I started noticing the odometers. The highest I saw was 22,000 miles. Most were in the 9,000 -10,000 range. The lowest was about 2,000.
I used to ride old English bikes that given care seemed to last forever, but no one really knew how many miles they really had because the old speedos were pretty fragile and didn't often work for long.
Japanese speedos usually do keep working, and I'm guessing those are pretty close to the actual mileage the bikes had when they were junked. That is, not much.
In a post yesterday Trumpychris said his '78 SR500 has 60,000 km on it.
The other day I talked to Mike Alpers at Thumperstuff and he mentioned his SR has 40,000 miles on it, or about the same as Trumpychris' bike.
I'm betting a lot of SRs will still be around at 140,000 km.
Know it doesn't mean a lot, but just simple-minded curiousity — what's the highest mileage anyone's seen on one so far?

My 79 has 70,000km. on it, although it's due for a top end freshening up. Crazy thing just keeps on going, and going, and going.

My H model had 100,000 before I pulled it to pieces to be cafe'd...they should go for many many Ks as all of the bearings etc. are replaceable...a very reliable machine normally. SR
