Does anyone know where I could get some fork gaiters/boots that will fit the SR ?

If it's function you're after and not "authenticity" (like they came with gaiters) consider using off-road truck shock absorber covers. I stumbled on these things when I needed blue gaiters for my XR250R and gambled on a set of truck shock boots that worked great. The caveat is that most shock boots are too long for SR forks; you need to find some that are only 6-8" long (relaxed) instead of 11" which is typical (they bunch up when compressed and look bad). I don't think cutting them down could be done without making a mess of their appearance, but that's a judgment call too.
Look on eBay for "shock (boots, covers, gaiters)" and see what comes up.

I recently purchased an OEM set from Vanem, as shown in Stew's post above. Adrian had them sent to me directly from Japan. A little pricey $$ $$, but man, do they look great!

I got mine from Thumperstuff, not expensive, fit perfect - I don't even use the tie wraps. Would work great on 77+ XS650's too.
