I can't get any!!! I just drove past 4 gas stations and ALL of them were out. All our gas has been diverted to Texas for the hurricane Ike evacuees. Now that Ike is though......start sending back over here!!! Not to mention it jumped +/- $1.00 over night. Now there isn't any at all.

Showed up here on Tuesday at the stations that were out. The lady at that station said they refused to buy it from the distributor who wanted over $5 during the bad weekend . It is generally$3.89 all over now.The station charging $4.89 got to hang on to most of their gas. The honest guys were charging $4.09-$4.29 during the hurricane weekend. There seemed to be gas up in Asheville Friday night.

It's hit and miss. Mostly miss. As soon as a station gets gas, it's like flies to $h!t. There isn't a single station from me to downtown (15 miles) that has any. Same way for I don't know how far the opposite direction.

I guess I'm lucky to live closer to Greensboro and Charlotte. Wow ,that doesn't sound right. How about the stations on I40 over the hill near Old Fart?

They may very well have gas as well as the ones south toward Greenville SC. Problem is, I don't have the gas to go and find out. Sounds like a "chicken and the egg" paradox.

If you could only make it to the top of Black Mountain you could Banzai your way down the other side and maybe make Morganton or maybe even Hickory.Helluva push back up if they're out too. Sorry ,just having some fun. I feel for you . I was a young family man in the'74 gas crises and the '78. It sucked not knowing if you were going to find enough gas to make it to work. Hang in there Ken.

Yea. I could slip it into neutral at the top of the mountain and I'm sure I would see a higher top speed than if I were topped out in 5th. I wasn't but 12 in 1974 but I remember it. Word has it that it isn't profitable enough to bring it up the mountain given what they have. They're just keeping it close to the hub so to cut down on transportation costs. As the quantities increase into the bub, we will see more as they fill up the stations closer and have enough left for us up here. Good thing I don't have the time or dexterity in my fingers to type what I think of all this.

Was just watching the ABC Evening news and saw that out gas shortage here in Asheville was a topic for the national news. It has gotten a little better here in the last couple days but, still pretty bad. Many government offices are closed or operating on a 4 day week as well as the tech schools are closed altogether.
