Have you put the petcock in the prime position? No fuel will flow in the on position unless the motor is running. Check that the float needle moves freely and the fuel inlet passage passage is clear if the petcock is OK.

Thanks for the answer I dont have the standard tap on the bike I have a fibreglass manx tank with on or off taps , if I set the float at 22 mm float needle is closed and will not move at all obviously I have done something wrong but after looking at manuals for the life of me I cant pick it !!!!!TC

OK. The specs I find say the float should be set at 23.5 mm plus/minus 1mm. I don't think that would cause your problem though. Maybe this can shed some light. www.siue.edu/~rsutton/SR/mikuni.htm Good Luck

When you set the float height, you have to have the brass tang touching the spring loaded pin on the needle but not depressing it at your set level...is this what you have done? SR

Thanks for clarifying that Stew. That is the way I set mine but some instructions say the weight of the float should be on the pin when setting the float height including the ones I linked to in the previous post. I didn't feel confident enough in my method to overrule those instructions . I am glad you did, thanks again.

Thanks guys for the info . I took the carby off yet again getting pretty expert here and looked at float needle and its little retainer spring and concluded the spring had to be rotated 180 edg and it then let the float drop independantly and let some fuel into float bowl , so put carby back together and back on bike and it started second kick .halleluah .I am not so sure about needle spring catch making a difference but it did . If I set the float level as Stew suggests with float tang just touching spring loaded pin on needle float level seems way too high to me maybe I need somebody to show me just how and then don't touch , is there a tool for mikuni that screw into float bowl drain plug with a piece of plastic pipe up the side of carby to just how high or low fuel is ?? Thanks TC
