I just picked up a 1980 SR250 (maybe) for my wife. $50 off of craigslist, with 7500 miles on it. I brought it home, changed the oil, checked the air filter (no foam-but the screened in housing was there), stole the battery out of the street tracker, attached my remote fuel source and it fired right up. It coughed and spit because the new gas was mixing with the varnished up carb contents, but it ran.
You guys all know about the less than desirable carb the '78 SR500 has, but you should see the SR250, no fuel mixture screw, no air screw, and no float bowl overflow-->? I just rebuilt this Flinstone's carb and need to address the tank, but my 4'11" wife fits on it nicely!
Do you guys know of a SR250 message board (forum)?
Thanks!

There was an SR250 board - called the Exciter in some markets so i think it was under SR250 exciter
I had an 04? SR250 that was great, so checked out the forum...
BUT
i would dodge it like the plague - full of spam and I'm still getting random emails about needle jetting and the thingy enlargement pills i apparently need (maybe they're realted somehow?)
I found if you ask nicely and in the right section the guys here are jsut about the bestr source of info on nearly every bike - especially yamaha singles
