September 20-21. New class of thumpers making a debut. Take a look at a website called The Kneeslider.

They sure do look like fun, don't they! I'm still struggling to see what's so cheap about racing those as opposed to any other style of introductory racing. It'll also be interesting to see how the gearboxes hold up with race use. I've read as much stuff as I can about this class and it's sure been interesting. The front forks are swapped with something like an R6, with new triple clamps and steering head angle to match. Wheels changed over, rearsets, some fairings, fake fuel tank and away you go. In Australia, at least, it'd cost more than setting up a decent bike for the V-twin cup, and a fair bit more for the thruxton cup. Still, food for thought...

I read about these close to a year ago. The idea is to have performance similar a 250 GP bike without the cost/maintenance. Makes sense. 500GP bikes are gone in favor of Moto-GP 800cc 4 strokes. From a non-production based purpose built race bike point of view, I think they are great. But, I would still rather have a 2 stroke for a GP style bike. Years ago when I was riding a RD350, my dream was to bolt that engine up into a TZ250 chassis. WEEEEEEE ;D

I think they should make the class 500cc why the extra 50cc? well it would pay homage to the old 500cc GP class in name, tie in historically there
AND
hopefully put more 500cc bikes out in the market.....500 jsut seems better

Yes flash looking and great performing little machines. As I recall the 450cc class limit was a MX organisational decision, decided a few years back...the open-class bikes just kept getting bigger and bigger... You'll be disappointed about the 250 GP 2 strokes though, gone soon to be replaced by the 600 four stroke prototype class! I'm with you on that one! Soon I reckon the 125s will go as well, replaced by four stroke singles or similar...that might be interesting? Start a rumour... SR

A friend of mine bought a RGV250 when he was younger. He put a Honda XL600R engine in it Sure made people wonder what was coming down the road ;D Later he went all out and bought a RGV500 engine from the states i think. He redid the entire bike so it looked and handled like a MotoGP racer. Atleast back then. It had the 4 exhaust pipes and everything. I asked him once about the speed. He replied "Fast...very fast" Right now he is trying to get papers on a XL600R. He wants to have 2 sets of wheels for it. Supermotard during the summer and snowtires during the winter. He also has a TRX850 wich he is trying to convert into a Streetfighter. I wish i had all his ideas and knowledge. Its amazing what he can come up with. But racing with singles... ohh i would love to see it and even more try it!! Isent there like a "Supermono" class in Europe? I know there was a own class were people raced with Yamaha SZR660's. Also heard of a bike like that doing the singles race at the Isle of Man with an average speed of 195km/h. I belive the original topspeed for that bike was 180-190km/h in stock version. This is a bike i would like to ride. Ducati Supermono: Or this one. Awesome sound and rpm's!
