Help, what kind of weird 'bolts' are holding my stator on my SR? They look like short little nubs, sort of hex or square looking on the top of the three funny tapered towers. Do I need some sort of special wrench to remove them? Thanks - Rod

I found the answer to my own question, it seems my 80SR (and maybe later) uses a 'tamperproof' fastener to discourage you from altering your timing. It's a breakaway bolt. You install 3 of them snugly and fire up the bike and shoot your timing. You then pull the rotor, make the final adjustment and when you finish tightening the 3 mounting bolts the heads break off, leaving a ragged nub that must be drilled and ez-outed to remove. I used a chisel and scored a notch on the outside of each one and was able to drive them around enough to loosen them so I could remove them with my fingers. They are 6M so I will replace them with standard allen bolts - Rod

Not heard of the use of these before...a real pain...be careful using allen headed bolts as they can be a little too tall and restrict the rotation of the flywheel...check once the wheel is refitted to make sure that they clear the inside rim. SR
