i paid $2600 NZ - thought it would go for a lot more. what would that go for in aus? i'll be doing it nicely - keeping it original isn't an option.

That was a fair price I think ! Looks nice & original & all the numbers should match up too ! We should swap tacos as I've got a chromed rim on mine(1 of mine ,I went to buy a second SR & ended up with 5)These babies eat tacos & speedos for breaky & lunch! My old boy has a full time job repairing them for me!Every time I go for a ride on any of them at the moment I seem to see 1 of these items demise before I get home. Cheers Dave

so i have ikon 7614 aluminium shocks (330mm) made up for it and ikon's progressive front springs - they will go in this week. had the sidecovers and seat fascia painted - but may do away with the entire rear guard and seat fascia anyway.. seat is recovered in a more modern basic style. have the headlight from my 94 sr500 to replace the cracked HUGE one on the '81 - will acid bath and powdercoat the bucket and rim - along with instrument buckets, chain guard - headlight ears, wheels front and rear fender (if i use them) and and centre stand handle. the standard brakes are pretty good - so may just replace the line with braided and new fluid for now. will probably run black renthall 80cc MX handlebars - and am considering dropping the tach. as to tyres - what's the consensus? i was originally considering running spoked 19" front and rear and running K180 dunlop flat track tyres - but may just keep the mags. kinda like this: www.wrenchmonkees.com/monkee05.html\ ken in NZ

Phwoar! That'll haul you up.
I'm going to chuck some braided lines on my pads but if it doesn't improve braking much I might go in your direction.
Does she stoppie well now?

So what's that seat and rear mudgaurd off?
I have a seat just like that, it came with a box of parts, but I'd no idea who made it.
I'm using it on my tracker

well, the seat was sold a few years ago by the german discounter "Louis" in Europe, but I had to take a lot upholstery out to get it into shape.
The rear mudguard is a plastic replica of the stock chrome one, but shortened as described already in this forum (only using the rear mounting point of the fender)
cheers Hans

Outsider - Sweet seat! I've been looking for something that shape (that doesn't cost a fortune) with no luck.
