Mine was 18 years ago. Last day of honeymoon. Wife and I went for a ride to Wollongong on the SR.
We took the freeway down. Riding back past Coalcilff a big storm came over from inland and drenched us in a few minutes of heavy downpour. We laughed so hard while getting so wet as we could not believe how fast the storm came on us. We didn't see it due to the cliff face.
Got to Stanwell Park and turned left to get back on the freeway. We dried out going up the freeway.
How about yours???

Memorable for the wrong reason;
2000: Departed Philip Island on my orange SR cafe' racer, after the completion of the World Superbike races. Bumper to bumper trafic and took over an hour to get back as far as Tooradin (about 50km) on the way home. In absolute agony, got of the bike outside the Tooradin pub, could neither straighten my legs nor straighten my back. Spend a good 1/2 hour on the grass meadian strip trying to get feeling back in to my legs and rid myself of the agonising knee pain. One kind sole bought me a beer to easy the pain while everyone else had a good laugh. Proof that 6'4" (193cm) and a radical cafe' rideing position don't work in slow bumper to bumper traffic situations. Have never tried to ride the bike in that kind of traffic situation since. Stick to a quick 1/2 to 1 hour blast down a twisty road where you can forget about the pain and discofort that goes with the "look".
I have had lots of good rides as well (along with some that truely suck), including many great runs down through the Royal National Park to Stanwell and back. CJ

I haven't had my SR out of town much, but I do remember a year or so back riding to a small farm town for a FSSNOC meetup... bent over the clubmans, thumping along the county road thru the fields with the sun, smell of the hay, etc. Very nice.

Mine would be the first time I saw it, sitting in the garage of the guy I bought it from. Like a little kid in a candy store!

Well I haven't even owned mine for a full year yet, so I'll have to say when I rode it down to Melbourne and back. Just me, country roads and a woman waiting for me. . . Perfect

I was cold and tired after a 16 hour night shift and forgot to use the decompression lever to get it at the sweet spot. I kicked her over and the kickback made me knee myself in the chin. I nearly knocked myself out, i was seeing stars and had to sit on the pavement for about 10 minutes to get my vision back properly and to stop my head from spinning.....I felt very very stupid haha
Not the usual most memorable sr500 moment but i cant lie lol

My muffler melting off on the way to Melbourne.
I kept stopping off at different service stations in the middle of no-where, and borrowing tools. I felt bad each time I stopped so I bought a packet of cigarettes at each garage.
By the time I got to Melbourne I had hundreds of the things in my backpack. I don't think I bought fags again for a long time.

Mine was only 2 weeks ago when my wife gave me my SR for my 30th birthday present.
The best part was I had my birthday party down at my local bike club (made the boys very jealous!) They reckon im a spoilt little s**t. I tend to agree with them...
Cheers

Having the left side footpeg of a yzf450 wedged in my megaphone end at a dirttrack practice day. Young guy tried to fit between me and the fence, totalled the end of my mega, but i got to run over his foot several times before we disengaged. Neither of us came down. Idont mind close racing, but this was a practice day. Cheers Franky b.

pablosrfivehundred...heh, heh...my bike with it's Supertrapp does the same thing. I pull into the parking lot at work and a few car alarms are set off. Too funny. My most memorable moments were in the early eighties in Toronto, Canada. My mate also had a 79 SR500, exactly like mine and we would go riding early Sunday morning though downtown. Very little traffic and giant skyscrapers, and the sound of our two SR's was like thunder. Great fun. Anyway, Merry Chrismas to all the SR500 forum members and CHEERS!

My black cafe racer sets off alarms with the Tingate pipe. Amusing as they come running out thinking I've touched their cars...I point to the pipe and say that it always does that...heh, heh... SR
