Went up to Alice's this morning (local SF Bay Area bike hangout) -- wow -- check this out! The guy built this sidecar rig on a BMW flat twin from the 70's (my guess). Did all the aluminum body work himself. Wasn't interested in making my manx tank for the sr500 though . The place was littered with really nice hardware today -- mint Norton Commandos,a british 500 single of some sort from ca 1960, , Ducati 1098's, MV Agusta's, KTM Super Dukes etc...BUT everyone was walking straight by these bikes like zombies staring at this sidecar rig. The sidecar rig was probably barely street legal but the pilot claims he doesn't get bothered by the police much....amazing! Bill--

Yes, interesting and unique machines beat run-of-the-mill stuff any day! You can spend near 30 grand on a modern sportbike (and I have over the years), but a nicely modified SR will have them walking straight past the sportbike just to have a look...and you don't have to be doing 280 to enjoy it! That type of machine shows style and craftmanship. It's always good to modify your own machines...cafe racers or others, two wheeled or three! SR
