I can't find my SR500 manual (and the info probably isn't there anyway), but could someone tell me the amount of lift the intake and exhaust valves make on a stock engine with a stock camshaft? Unless the rockers are 1:1, I don't need camshaft lift, but actual valve travel from closed to open.
Reason for asking is that I've picked up a set of FelPro 280ZX polyacrylate valve stem seals that fit on the SR500 guides and valves like they were made for them. The drawback is that the new seals are about 5.5mm taller than the factory seals -- leaving me just 10.55mm between the bottom of the valve keepers and the top of the seals. If the valves don't lift any more than 10mm (~0.400") the keepers should not interfere with the seals and it should work fine. If they lift more than 10mm, it's back to the drawing board.
Thanks, Bill

Perfect!!! Much more than I ever wanted to know about SR500's . It looks like (comparing valve spring length installed closed and open), the valves will not open more than 10mm and probably won't open that much (given cam lift at <7.25mm). Thanks much for the link solo2racr -- it's on my favorites list now. Bill

Hi Sjef, Mate your system doesn't like me...it knocked all of my e-mails back...said your mailbox was full...computers love 'em and hate 'em all at once! I even sent them a few at a time as well so as to not 'oversize' the system...to no avail... SR
