hello peeples i bought a sr500 in june as a joke and spoof to all the harley riders around in this area and ended liking the bike alot it is a 1978 all original with 3700 miles on the clock when i bought it the d**n thing still had the original tires on it alot of the rubber is decent shape but some did not last the 15 years of storage a guy bought it rode it for about 8 mo then figured he didnt like it stored it then forgot about it then gave it to the guy i bought it from he had it in his garage for 5 years then decided he did want it he put 21.7 miles on the bike in 5 yrs then i got it since i got it i have put about 1300 miles on it but having some probs getting the jeeting right for my alltitude but i think i got now

Welcome to the forum. Good that you got such a low mileage machine. The SRs are fun machines. Post some pics of it so we can all have a look. SR

thanks gman and sr i just want to get running reliably and ride the dog poo out o it the bike had to many years of non use now its gona b just the opposite i also have a cbr1000rr 2006 that will compete for seat time my wife has a 2000 ninja 500 and just sold her 89 ninja 600 yesterday at 930pm we also have two quads two three wheelers and of course a partridge in a pear tree

Welcome to the forum. This looks like the bike from Gardnerville, no? I found it on Craigslist - tried to buy it but the shipping cost put it out of my budget. It seems you have a brand new 30 year old SR! Congratulations!

yes brees it is the one from gardnervlle it would seem new but there were a few things to get right after its long slumber age has proven the bike not to be reliable (rubber rotting,corrosion,unavaliable parts now) but it runs decent now it needs a new pipe on it the orignal is rotting from the inside thats my nxt purchase

woo hoo i put low clubman bars on the bike and a set of billet mirrors the bars are a world of change in ride i love emi will post a pic later i rode it 430 miles this weekend and now i have a leakin rear shock guess TIME gets to those to i am sure that mark at Thumperstuff is going to love me

Any dealer that has an account with Tucker/Rocky can get Bikemaster clubman bars. My 2006 catalog shows them at $21.99

i got them from parts unlimited they are a tracker style bar 2"up 3.75 back and 31" wide i believe parts unlimited sold them for 89$ kind o pricey but i like them
