Hello Guys and Dolls, i like to introduce myself as Dutchcool. Stumbled across this forum and as a former Sr owner/rider i would like to participate.
I know, i have to get my act together and start buying a Sr (or more than one ! ). But for now i have plenty good memories to keep the thought alive !
So i have to do a lot of catching up with all the posts i guess !

There's some nice dutch SR's i've seen on the net. Do they have mutch of a following up your way?

Marlon, Back in 1981 you could've seen mine in Melbourne !  That was SR #1, three more followed. Back to square 1 now !  |

Hi, No Doug has retired but he still does things from home. He does things for me from time to time like re-bores etc. His brother Wayne has straightened a few fork legs for me over the last few years as well...I gave him a frame a while back and I want him to do some bronze welding on the DCM frame for me... The tower is still going, it's now called the Black Mountain Tower...when were you here   SR |

EHHhh,
Back in 1981 ! opss ....forgot that that was a lonnnnnng time ago, wait a minute was there in 1991 as well.
Doug is a good ol chap, you can tell him that, he sold me a brand new SR, with the promise he would buy it back at the end of my holidays. So 2.5 months later i went back to his shop,.........Doug was not in,...........but they believed my Innocent look and gave me a real good price for it back.
I drove it for 16000 Km. ACT Brisbane ACT Melbourne Adelaide Nullabor Perth and return !
Got to tell you all,...........you got yourselves a great country ! What a pity the Dutch didn't see it that way in the oll days !
Back to the tower, when i had left Doug's shop i drove to the tower, parked my SR at the top to have a look around, just when i turned myself aruond,.........Kadang !!!! 1 brand new SR was faced down,......the jiffystand is just a bid to long, i had parked the SR frontwheel lower than rearwheel !!!
A mistake i will never make !
Good thing about that,...nobody was there to witness it !

Hi, I'll pass your greetings on to Doug. An interesting story as well. You wouldn't be too keen on doing that ride at the moment I reckon...too cold...in the warmer weather is another story. Aus is a great country, old Dirk Hartog stuffed up by passing it off...we could have been doing street racing here now, the same as in Holland...still there are some good race tracks here so all is not lost... I bought and sold an SR500H over in Perth years ago. I used to ride it to work and it ended up with my E model seat and tank on it. Should have kept that stuff for now...ah well. SR  |

Perth is a nice city too.
I got relatives in the ACT ! Dryandrastreet o'Connor! and Dwyerstreet Cook!
I will meet them in December 2008 ! I will stay until mid Januari 2009 !
If Doug recalls my name i would like to shake hands with him !
Any SR activities in Dec in the ACT area ?

I used to live in Miller St, O'Connor...a small World. There are always SR things going on here in Canberra. Shame you can't stay until Jan 26th weekend...the ACT has the Classic Bike Rally then. Many bikes turn up. Lat me know closer to getting here and you can meet some of the SR riders here in the ACT if you're interested. Here's our website.
