Now that my bike is assembled and I am riding it to work out the kinks before final paint and graphics, I am a little disappointed in the chain roller setup. Is the only chain roller the white plastic "O" that fits around the front of the swingarm near the front sprocket? I did make my own chain slider for the swingarm out of a piece of 3/4" black automotive heater hose, so the chain does not trash my powdercoated swingarm. But that roller design is caveman! Any thoughts?

The chain will cut through that heater hose pretty quickly. There's not a easy fix to keep it off the top of the swingarm. The plastic used to make those 1/2 kitchen cutting boards from Walmart is pretty tough. I pop riveted a piece down to the top of my swingarm to give the chain a place to rub on and not the swingarm.

The material specified in my materials handbook for industrial chain slides for use in normal environments (room temperature) is Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW PE). It is available in sheet and rod forms from most industrial suppliers (Mc Master-Carr is who I use.) and is reasonably priced. I have turned up beefier rollers for the swingarm attachment points on my bikes and I am making flat sheet glides for the bottom of my swingarms. I have the advantage of alloy swingarms. The flat surfaces make for easier mounting. You would likely need to weld on attachment points to do the same.

I am really looking for chain roller options. The way the plastic roller just floats serves no purpose other than making noise. The rubber hose slider is good enough right now.
