Hi,
I just joined the group...I currently have a 1981 SR500H, I bought it last year and am the second owner. It has about 4,500 miles on it. It has the Minton mods and a supertrapp SS exhaust.... My first SR500E I bought new way back in 1978 and it was a blast.
I joined the group as I wanted to get some good info on tires. My SR500 has Dunlop 591's that are cupped in the front and pretty thin in the rear. I'd like to get some really good safe tires for riding around the island, in particular on damp road surfaces. I was also wondering if it is feasible to replace the tires oneself as I don't want to ride the bike into Seattle. Any advice would be appreciated. Now I'll go read the forums... :-)

Changing your own tires isn't that big of a deal. The biggest thing is to use GOOD tire changing tools like this Another big help is to get the wheel off the ground. I use a 30gal. drum that works very well. Cover the top edge with a rubber hose that has been split and wired down to the top of the barrel. The quick and easy way is just to use a milk crate. You CAN do it on the ground but, it is alot harder to do. I have done a 17" wheel conversion so I'm not up on what 18" and 19" tires work well. I'm sure others here can help with that one. BTW......Welcome to the forum! ;D

Welcome to the forum! I've got Bridgestone Battlax BT-45's on mine and they work well. Others on the forum have recommended them as well.
