Hi all,
After years with sports bikes and tearing round the country, I was without a running bike for a year. My wifes cousin from Australia bought a 1979 SR400 re-bored to a 500 in 2000 and went from Lands End to John o Groats, over to Iceland and other trips around the UK. He has now bought a newer SR and has sold me this one for the princely sum of a pint of guiness!!
It is in some need of a little TLC , but she is a runner - called Serena!
I am going to use the bike for the rest of our summer and then my thoughts are to strip her down completely and do a mega re-build - she is going to look like new after the winter, my plans are to remove any rust, replace, repair, re-do - you name it, I have set myself a lot of hard work but I reckon she will be worth it in the end. This little bike provided Hippy (my wifes cousin) with many 1000's of miles of fun so she deserves a bit of looking after now.
Found this forum amost by accident - really good and well worth scrolling through.
I am sure I will be asking loads of questions over the coming months - I'll post piccies as I go.
