Hi Y'all, Thought I would post some pix and let you all in on the journey I have commenced over the last month or so. ;D Here is a shot of my SR which I purchased about a month ago. Doesn't look too bad from the photos but on closer look its showing some ware. Which can be seen in the next photo of the instruments, triples and risers. The ignition barrel didn't work too well... Actually non of the switches worked too well but all electrics did work. All in all its a working bike in need of a lot of TLC the only problem I have with it is the front sprocket guard which some how has been ripped off and has taken all three mounting points with it! Have a look at this! I'm thinking of just ataching it to some of the other bolts in the area. Lots of ideas running through my head on where its going..... Stay tuned for more updates.

Hi, Yes a little bit to go there...but then there's the fun of modification and then the riding...go to it! It will be worth it in the end. SR

A lot to go! Its now in pieces, bead blasted and sitting in a box, or two! Parts are slowly coming in, from all over the world..... And money is quickly pouring out of my bank account! The frame is the slow one. I'm removing excess mounts and want to cut the rear frame and make the chunky rear end a little more stream lined but I can't do that until I make the new seat. But in the mean time the and grinder and file are working overtime. Pictures to follow!

How's the swingarm? Was it a mongrel to get off?Its a good old 78 too so when's its 30th birthday?I think the 78 looks real cool restored to original too as the black, gold&chrome is a real head turner but it probably costs more to do than doin a street tracker , so go forth & modify & let us see your creation . Cheers Dave.PS what did it cost in the original condition?

The swing arm did require a bit of muscle..... Actually I almost destroyed a drift to get it out! Now worries now though as I'm waiting on one of Troutthunters swing arms in the mail. Can't wait Already 30 had its birthday in February. Your right they do look great original, but I've got a dream..... ;D Here is a shot of the condition of the carb, not the prettiest! Cost me $1750 Aus, but so far I've spent over $3000 in parts! I'm having a ball playing with the thing! Part after part is giving me grief stuck parts and busted thingys its all good

Sounds like a familiar story, 5 grand will disappear at the blink of an eye & there is always another grand or 2 to spend to get it just how you want it !And don't you just hate it when the guy who owned it before just loved spraying paint over everything?Still we love it ,piece by piece we clean ,rub, polish& restore or replace.I haven't even ridden any of mine for a few weeks(I was surfing in Indo)so I thought I better mow the lawn & trim the roses(keep the peace).Anyway it looks like a cracker of a project so get into it ,cheers Dave.

My Christmas's have all come at once! Or maybe it was just about 4 boxes worth of gear! Oil coolers, instruments, fork tubes, head lights, spark plugs, orings, gaskets, oil lines, suspension..... The list goes on. So many shiny bits I don't know what to do with myself but look and touch. I'll get snap happy tonight and post some pix. ;D

Hi Wenley, do you have some shots of your SR in its complete beauty? I like what you have been doing with the wiring, painstaking but neat!

Hi guys thought you might like a look at the new parts.... Old vs new. lots of good shiny stuff! First up the suspension, koni/Ikon suspension for fat guys! SP10's and progressive fronts Now for the controls. I am going with an oversized MotoX pair of Protaper bars. I also have the protaper oversize risers which look great and fit a treat. I did haveto make up some longer bolts for the risers but that was a quick job on the lathe. The front break and master cyl is great, the old was for an angled set of bars or clip ons and was a mess, so the new is good to go. Instruments got shrunk in the wash, and has got a dual mounting kit with engine warning lights, just a little cutter then the old. The indicators are tiny compaired to the originals.

Part 2! And heres some other tasty bits that are ready to mount. At the moment I'm still mucking around with the frame. Mounts are still being taken off at a very slow rate and the chunky part of the sub frame and the passenger pegs are looking like their time is limited, but I'm procrastinating..... everything is waiting on the frame. or thats an excuse for how long its taken. I on't know which exhaust I want so not sure how it will be mounted so not sure which mounts to leave on the frame...... Can't get the frame powder coated till all mounts and grinding is complete.... You see my dilemma? As for the tank and forks I think they change colour in my mind each week! But I thin k I have settled on a dark grey in a semi gloss finish. with black stripes...... anyway we'll see what its up to next week!

The oil cooler was an interesting one. I've ended up cutting off the oil line at the case and taped in a threaded connector, I also cut off the same oil line at the frame leaving a bit of the piping so I'll be able to clamp over it.. I'm making up some braided lines to the cooler and frame. I also tapped the threads in the cooler itself so all are now the same thread. Lucky aircraft hydrolic lines are easy to come by......
