Oh, oh! (sticks up hand like a school kid)
I can answer this one!
When I did mine I dunked the wrap in water and wrapped it around two or three times before using a hose clamp to keep it in place. I then pulled it around and tugged at it as hard as i could each time. It leaves marks everywhere, absolutely everywhere, so don't do it in your bathroom. And that's about it. I had black wrap on mine, but after the first decent shower it'll go grey anyway. There's some pics in the photo thread of the bike a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the response,
Did you keep the hose clamp on there, or will it eventually hold itself in place?
My mom doesnt even let me use the bathroom if I have been working, I highly doubt she would let me dunk exhaust wrap in the bath tub and start wrapping an exhaust pipe on the bathroom floor, hahaha
Did you put the heat coating on yours as well?

Hose clamps are on both ends. I've no idea if it'll hold with or without it, to be honest. I've seen some fence wire wrapped around tight at each that looks the goods.
I've no idea about a heat coating - mine is a fibreglass thing that I just wrapped around and haven't had any problems with. It seems to work though - methinks that's how it melted my muffler off!

Curtis,
Just soak it in a bucket of water and make sure your arms and legs are covered when you are doing it. As for the ends the start end if done properly won't need a clamp but the finished end will. The wrap should come with some stainless strap and single use strap locks, if not stainless hose clamps will do fine. If you want it black, after it has air dried spray it with exhaust header paint.

Its a Mac, reverse megaphone, free flow design,
Loud, but not loud enough to get me in trouble, I hope,
I had the mid pipe bent at a local exhaust shop, only charged me 5 bucks to cover the cost of the material
This weekend I have booked off from work and I have no other side jobs to do, so it will be a weekend of work work work on the SR

That's a good looking and performing muffler. I picked up a no-name copy like that a couple of years ago through one of our aftermarket suppliers. The muffler ran me less than $80.00 CDN. Performed and sounded great. G Man

Great job, I'm new to this, just joined yesterday, restoring a 79 sr, I'm sure I'll figure some questions very soon, and I can look at your work as an incentive, Dave
