Well, here is the final updated picture until everything else is complete, here is the list of the stuff to finish up (when i scrape the money together, as usual) Fork Boots SS Brake lines all around Mini Stalk turn signals Header wrap Drilled front disks to match rear disk Seat shaved "cafe racer" style Drilled chain guard New oil cooler lines (small seepage) Tool box (I have an awesome idea I am going to try and make work out of some scraps, will keep you folks posted) Finish rear sets I also have to rebuild all 3 calipers and I am still waiting on a response from Vanem on the shorter clutch cable and throttle cable for my clip ons. Excuse the poor lighting, it is dark out and my garage SUCKS for lighting. There is your teaser. Curtis

Nice bike! I wish my garage was that clean it takes me 15min to remove all the junk just to get my bike out

your only seeing the door, there is a 1999 yamaha Vstar1100, a 2001 KX250, a 1978 Suzuki RM250, a 1972 kawasaki 350 triple, and an 18 horsepower kohler motor all there i had to move to take that photo, plus i had to move the SUV out of the garage to even think of moving a bike around.

Nice looking ride. SR's look really sweet with clip-ons. And header wrap, what's that...a type of heat-resistance tape? Is your 72 Kawi triple orange? I had a 1974 400 triple...two-tone green.

The header wrap is a heat insulator, keeps the heat inside the pipe so it doesnt dispense through it, causing it to exit properly out of the muffler and not out the side of the pipe (and a good reason how i wont burn my leg!!)
My kawi was actually painted a dark red, but it is about to be changed to white, I have only seen one other one in white (1969 kawasaki 500 triple) and it looks very sharp, something I am kinda replicating, but not 100%
I have to talk to the local Police today and find out what my decibal limit is, I have an "awesome" idea for exhaust but it is going to be loud, very very loud.

Congratulations on a real looker! Canucksr's right about the clip-ons, there is gain through the pain! What plans do you have for mirrors? I think if I did this I'd try to get the speedo and tacho down lower, below level with the headlight, but that would be difficult unless one went electronic, which might be anathema on an SR! What oil cooler are you using? Matt

The oil cooler is a Lockhart Phillips
I am still undecided about mirrors, I might just use the 1 bar end mirror
Well, in all honesty, I thought about trying to lower the gauges, but the way it is now, when i sit on it i look perfectly straight and i just need a quick glance down to see my gauges perfectly, I think if I put them lower (and smaller) then I would have a hard time reading them on the fly.
Sometimes, function over flash rules in my books,
I am just about to head out the door to get my header wrap, talk to the local po po, and head down to the shop and finish up my rear sets.

She a nice looking bike mate. Very tidy ;D ...And header wrap, what's that... The idea behind heat insulating your exhaust is that the exhaust gasses lose velocity as they cool down, therefore keeping the heat in is supposed to make the pipe more efficient.

I will snap some photos of the oil cooler today in some sunlight
Original front wheel, the disks where off an XS, and the other caliper is also off the same XS (needs to be rebuilt, as well as the other 2)
I will be ordering my new pipe for it tommorow, and hopefully getting it all fabbed up before the weekend. I talked to the local police department, and they said its not mesured by decibals, its how hard i am running it to make it loud, so I am going to go a different route on the exhaust, it will still be loud, but not as loud as my original idea (which, may go on a ice bike if i ever get to building one)

Ok, no pics of the oil cooler yet (Sorry!!) But, I got the new exhaust today! woo hoo, get that installed on saturday (providing i dont get called into work)
Question on header wrap,
How do you get it so tight? I havent tried wrapping it yet but it looks like its going to be a PITA,
Should I somehow hold the pipe stationary at each end and then wrap it a little at a time and pull tight each wrap, or is there a nicer way to do it?
Also,
The place I am getting the wrap (automotive speed shop) says he only carries the white wrap, and I want the black stuff, but he said you have to spray this stuff on it and it turns it black, is this right, or do i just go and find black wrap?
