Hello, I´m using Honda CB 750 oil tank and with it the oil returning pipe ends over the oil level (there is a pipe inside the tank). So when I fill the oil tank there won`t be any oil filling the returning pump or hose. If I understand right SR oil returning hose is connected to bottom of oil tank? I just made first test start up and find out the oil returning pump is not working. Because the returning hose is empty? If that`s the case I guess I just have to re-weld the oil returning connection. To my freshly painted oil tank...
Regards,
Esa

Hallo Esa, the return oilpipe is connected from the engine to the underside of the oiltank. it is the braided hose with the s-bend metaltube at the end. if the scavenger oil pump is oke it should be pumping oil at the end of the hose in to the tank . gravity ensures the oilsupply to the feeder pump of the engine. regards sjef

Hi Esa! Scavenger pump to oil tank hose should end over oil level (to prevent wetsumping), oil tank to feed pump hose must begin under it of course (to provide oil). Regards Sven

Giving positive head they call it. Also in porn films, but thats a different sort of head.... ...I mean you wouldn't want your pump sucking on something that is empty. I'll get my coat , said Finbarr (if you are confused - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finbarr_Saunders )

Finbarr Saunders was new to me, I just have to check out the spelling, being a Finn myself... Anyway I´m very pleased to know that there is nothing mechanically wrong with my oil tank. Thank`s for the replays everyone. Esa

Here is the point on the backbone where the oil is returned to...next to it is the head breather line entry... SR
