I am presently working with a local fabricator, here in Houston, TX to develop rearsets with TWO (2) functions in mind.
1) An aluminum plate with multiple holes that will accept another company's footpeg. (I am working with Vortex). These holes will allow multiple positions for the placement of the peg.
2) Will have a dedicated pair of holes to attach a removable pair of passenger pegs. This would make it a "convertible" pair of rearsets!
I will keep you posted with pics and stuff as the idea develops. I am meeting with the fabricators, after I get back from vacation, in two weeks. I should have a prototype in a month or so.
Have a great week, everyone!

Great idea. As you are coming up with a prototype take a look at the Cycle Cat rearsets. They are no longer in business but you can still see some of their products at www.oncycles.com. They've got some trickest stuff I've seen for bikes. I had some of their rearsets for my Ducati 996R and they were just plain beautiful. Also check out Sato Racing. Good luck.

Latest update: I am expecting the footpegs, shift pedal and 7.25" shif rod, as wellas the brake pedal from Vortex. I am using the ones for a GSX-R 600/750/1000 during the 2000 till 2003 model years. I like the way the shift pedal pivots at the peg. This does not require me to fabricate another pivot point. This leaves me fabriacting on the mounting plates. Once I receive the pegs, I will take them to SSS Steel, here in Houston purchase the appropriate plate of aluminum to fab the bracket from. Not to worry, I will post pictures of the finished product. Can't wait to finish this aspect and get started on the exhaust!!!
