I believe I read here somewhere that a GSX250/400 tank would fit. My question is how much trouble is it to get that kind of tank to fit? Does it bolt on without too much trouble or take a lot of cutting and welding?

Sorry. I just had to.

Steve My understanding is that the GSX250/400 tank from around 83-85 fits without much trouble. The best bet is to head to a friendly wreckers yard and see if they will let you try one. Cheers Rich

Cheers Rich I would except they don't have those models here in the 'States. The closest one seems to be in the U.K.

I have seen pics of the GS425/450 tank (early '80's U.S. version) on SR500's. I also have an old Cycle World (Japaneses issue) that has pics of the early '80's Suzuki 650 Katana tank on them.

No more comments on the tank? I'm thinking of ordering one from overseas and I want to find out how it's going to fit before going to all the expense and trouble to get it.

Hi Steve. I thought I had responded to your PM. Mustn’t have gone through. Well it does fit on but not without some minor mods. Not having done them myself I cant be too clear but I know that there are two rubbered seats that come out from either side of the frame/oil reservoir, that the tank sits on. I think there is even a block of wood at the back and lots of rubber up the front. It does have a little vibration rattle about it. If you like I can have a closer look at it and take some pics for you. There are some pics of the tank on the bike here… www.flickr.com/photos/26325345@N07/cheers
