Well after just 3 long months (the powder coating company slowed me down). My bike runs and is 95% finished. I need to do some finish sanding on the tank and spray on a second coat.
The bike sat for 12-13 years OUTSIDE. My biggest fear was the electrical was not ruined by all the Seattle Washington moisture, and I got LUCKY!
After rebuilding the motor: new overbore high compression piston, valves, valve springs, and rebuilding the carb. I put on adjustable XS650 forks, and it had aftermarket shocks, K&N air filter, and Super Trapp exhaust (I put the torque insert in the large tube header). It started in probably 5 or 6 kicks (with a test bottle being used for fuel).
If one of you can link me to where I find out how to post pictures here I will do so in the not too distant future. The bike looks very similar to an Omar type of street tracker, but I used the XR tailpiece, stock tank (graphics coming soon), and the stock side panels (will probably use number plates later). The bike is Yellow with a silver powdercoated frame, black exhaust, and yellow alloy wheels.
Sunday (today is Friday) I will be riding this beast. I probably won't sleep for 2 nights in anticipation.

So................I couldn't wait until Sunday. This bike is a very interesting ride. I have riden a stock SR500 once. This bike feels shorter, but it is probably just because of the visual (no front fender - and no headlight yet). It definitely has more power than the last one I rode. I will add that this will take some getting use to.
I do like the front forks and the shock feel good. The front brake is very mushy. I need to play with that some. The rear brake is great. I do get an oil smell - sometimes when riding, but definitely at idle. I do not have an airbox and have a remote (under the tail section mounted crankcase breather). I have already had to adjust the new chain once (expected). Overall I would say pretty fun! Once I get use to the short geometry, I'll see how she leans in a corner!
Thanks to everyone who helped me with my questions along the way!

I am STILL waiting on the headlight from Omar's. I will get some pics up as soon as I paint and install it.
