Well last Sunday I met Rick and saw his Silver Dream Racer. I have to admit, that although I had previously said I'd probably come out to Oran Park to see the racing, I had a late night out and wasn't going to bother, until I saw I had a email from Rick saying that he had a left over ticket and he'd leave it at the gate for me. So with a bit of a late start Sunday morning, I got on the SR and managed to get to Oran Park around lunch time. After I walk up and down the pits (and having my heart warmed by seeing so many old Yamaha racebikes) I finally found Rick's bike. It wasn't hard, I just had to find lots of shiny SR ;D But no Rick (and bare in mind that at this stage I didn't know what he looked like), so I watched the on track spectacle from a vantage point that also allow me to keep an eye out for Rick. (Oh my god! I'm a stalker) Anyway I finally tracked him down and had a got to know him a bit, had a good look over his bike and even got to see him race in 2 of his events. All in all a good day and it's good to meet the people you communicate over the net with in real life and put a human face to them. Oh yeah, I have to congratulate him on being the most relaxed competitor I've ever come across, even though he was having persistant handling problems. photo from SR500 Club ACT website
