Where are you Terry? If you're in Aus there's a place that make fibreglass tanks to suit...they'd have the tunnel shape that they may be able to use to modify your tank?
They're called Moto Tumbi....you can access them through here...http://www.classic-motorcycle-fiberglass.com/yamaha.htm
You'd have to ask them....good luck.

What style of tank is it?
There are plenty of steel road bike tanks around that can be modded....welding and panel beating is available to change clearances etc, and they don't leak if done properly either...
Personally, and I know that money has an effect here, I always use aluminium alloy for tanks. Guys like Bernie Willet in Melbourne are exceptionally good at what they do and quite reasonably priced considering.
Deus has some really nice tanks as well; pretty well depends on what you're after...and how much you want to spend.

Hi, Bernie's phone number is (03) 9437 0232. He's a really nice guy and he can make almost anything from alloy sheet.
He would do a great job.

Not sure of the cost now...you'd have to ask Bernie. I think that he charges about $700 for Manx tanks etc...better really to give him a call....
For what he does they're a pretty good price I reckon.
He'll give you a choice on the fuel caps, Monza, flush etc...do you want a breather...you may need to supply a tap and so on.
Worth the effort to get something no-one else has.
