Hi, Mate my tanks are all aluminium. The black cafe racer has a real TZ 'B' model tank on it that has been modified to suit. Where are you I can put you onto a bloke here in Aust if that helps... There are a number of guys here who do fibreglass tanks as well. SR

Hi, Give Classic Fibreglass a ring as a start: www.classic-motorcycle-fiberglass.com/yamaha.htmHe may be able to modify your existing tank...it is easier to have a tank from this mob really. They also make race style tanks to suit the SR from scratch. If you want an alloy tank try Bernie Willett in Research in the north of Melbourne. 03 9437 0232. Bernie is a great guy and he does excellent work in alloy. He's made a tank and seat for my new cafe racer and he repaired the alloy DCM tank...it was in a bad way when I got it. He's a true crafstman in an age of cheap rubbish... It all depends on how much you want to spend... SR

Hey Stew, I was speaking to a bloke on a SR the other day, and he said he used to have a fibreglass tank on his caff, but had to take it off several years as it started to warp. Said it was something to do with some additives they're sticking in the fuel these days. Know anything about that?

Hi, Not heard anything about that sorry mate. How it's put together probably makes a difference as much as anything else. I saw a restored Ducati single in a shop the other day. They'd repainted the glass tank and the fuel appeared to have already started to leak under the paint...not a good look. They wanted a fair bit for the bike as well...you'd need to repaint it again after you sealed it at the very least. I do prefer aluminium as I've said...fibreglass probably does tend to break down a bit after time if you don't look after it. SR
