Gas Cap

I have somehow managed to loose the keys for the gas cap on my 1978 SR 500. I had already replaced the cap with one from mikes XS at the start of the riding season. I was just going to reorder one (29.00) but they are out of stock. The local locksmith is a robber and won't even give me any Idea of how much to cut a new key. So does any one have any other ideas of where to get one. Thanks John B

Is it the same cap that fits Stock type XS650C/D/E/F 76-79 Standard Models ? Tommy Pollard sells them for 20.00. He also sells keys for 15.00. www.xs650parts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv? I think I am going to go write my key number down now. |

Thanks, I was at the site and only found the special listed under the gas tank section, nevet thought to look under the Misc section. I am going to order one today.

Try to gently jiggle whatever keys you have on your keyring into the lock. I found my steering wheel club key fits my ignition and my Jeep ignition key fits my gas cap. Good luck
