A few years ago I broke the grease nipple off of the rear hub. I took the grease nipple off of the rear brake pedal pivot and used it on the rear wheel. I was at the dealer today and thought that I would get a nipple for the rear brake pedal - parts guy looked at me like I was nuts, asked if I - or a previous owner - had installed it... I told him I thought it was original and asked for the nipple for the rear hub.... now he has me wondering because it doesn't show up on the parts diagram.... so the question is - do you have a grease nipple on the rear brake pedal pivot on your SR? My bike is a 78 "E" with a rear disc brake....

Someone probably added it. My 78 "E" doesn't have one.

I have an '81, and it doesn't have one either. The parts diagram doesn't show one either.

grease nipples are standard parts so you should be able to get one from a good tool suplier or agricultral supplies are good for stuff like that. And itll be alot cheaper than Yamaha would charge you even if the parts guy belived your bike had one!

I haven't got them on any of mine , but its a great idea & I've contemplated doing it on a couple of assembles I've done (I just greased them for now) I have done all the swingarms ! The theory is a little grease every now & then is better than a heap at once cheers Dave.

Ok..... just found the owner's manual for my 78 Sr500E - page 46 shows a picture of the grease nipple on the end of the brake pedal shaft... interesting facts you never knew you wanted to know..... it's not shown on the parts diagrams, but it is in the owner's manual.....
