[/img] This is my new project. According to the paperwork I received the bike was built as a 540cc with a megacycle cam and a 38 flat slide in 1996. I got it as a parts bike but I figure it is too good to sea gull the parts off of it so I will build it into a street tracker or some thing like that. I am getting things straightened up and replacing the broken bits. It runs good but has some piston clatter or a vibration noise I haven't isolated yet. it came with a couple pistons and a stock cam and lots of good parts including new bt45 tires all for 500$.

Nice find! I got a similar deal last year, but the guy before me had bent a valve and I didn't know what what to expect inside. I was pleasantly surprised with all sorts of upgraded bits when I opened it up to fix the head. Good luck and keep us updated on how it goes.

I have been taking off bent parts and cleaning up what is here and I have found a broken front motor mount plate and one loose motor mount and the other two had no nuts on the bolts. I am pretty sure that is the source of most of my mystery rattles. I am very hard of hearing ( at least according to my wife) so feel is a better indicator after I have visually confirmed things are right. I think the motor is much quieter and vibrations free. My lesson here is to put a wrench on all bolts as often a I can.

Yes Good find! loose and missing engine mounts does sound like a very likely cause for lots of rattles.
