Hi all in NSW, I will be moving back to NSW in the near future, returning to Broken Hill. Since it has been quite some time since I have had a SR registered in NSW, can someone tell me what the costs of rego is now days, i.e. Green slip, Pink slip and registration. Also what are the recomendations for the best company for Green slips?
I am really going to miss the cheap rego here in SA.

Colin before I start I want you too sit down and have your heart medication ready. This could be too much of a shock to a man of your advanced years. These are for my XT, should be ball park for SR. Rego $99 Pink Slip $33 Green Slip $424. As for insurance companys my greenslip is with NRMA and it was the cheapest had quotes inexcess of $1000. Hope your still with use after you've read this! What is a green slip? Insurance? I think mine is ~$110 a year. Yearly registration here in the States for my SR is less than $20 US!

Jeff, a green slip third party personel insurance. Covers your vehicle if it injures or kills someone else. Is compulsory to have can't rego a vehicle without it. The ripe off is you you must have it for each vehicle you own. It's not for you personally. Curly

My insurance was around $100 or so dollars, with a one off fourth party fee or something for $250. CTP insurance was in excess of $700.

can you go historic rego on your SR yet CJ?
Anything over a 250cc is nasty in NSW, and they use all the money to put up new speed cameras for "safety"
Hopefully in Broken Hill they wont be so much of a problem

Cheez man , that must be how it gets its name , after you've paid the rego etc for your bike you will be both" broke n ill" Hey Col are you bringing those 32 bikes with you? Just kidding , I'm seriously thinking about heading north myself for better employment opportunities & I'll be taking a SR with me too ! But there is no borders so the rego wont be changing($200/year) Cheers Dave.

I knew that it was going to be more than the $274 that I currently pay here in country SA to register the SR.
If the NSW historic rego scheme was the same as the SA one (90days use per year with a log book) I would put both the SR and the XT onto historic rego. I had been thinking of doing this here in SA as I would not ride a bike on more than 180 days in a year and I could have had two bike on the road for the cost of one!
Moving the bikes and the contents of the shed is going to be my biggest headache, apart for the fact that we are looking at going down the owner/builder route for a house as we have not seen any houses that we are happy with in the Hill, and I could spend 6 month building a new home and shed.

Col , why don't you keep the missus happy & build the shed first ! That should work a treat har har ,mate I do not envy you doin all that work & it'll probably take you 6 months to the power of 10 to get it finished! As for moving all those bikes & bits , that will be tough . My mate is moving about 18 bikes & he set up 2 20ft seatainers with tiedowns etc . But he is sure that they will get there safe .I'm going to inquire about the historic rego here in the west but I think its only 6 rides & 6 tuning rides per year ! That may do as I don't use them for commuting to work , cheers Dave.

I am not moving!!
THe wife has changed her mind (as they are apt too do) and is not taking the job she was offered in BH, so I can stay in the state of cheap and easy rego and most importantly not have to shift sheds.
Dave, the plan was always going to be too build the shed first, and use it a a site workshop for "ME" to build the house (we were looking at a steel framed kit home as there are some real good ones now days.

Good move CJ i only moved 8kms out the road to a house that i have just built and the shed still looks like a bomb went off in there. Been in the house 3 months now and are only just starting to sneak out to the shed briefly. Bloody things we do for the ladies *#@?!^xxx
