I don't want to get in a major discussion about what oil is best. I just want to take the temperature. I would like to know what everyone is using in tuned engines these days? 20/50 or something modern?
I don't give a hoot what you think is best and why, just want to know what is being used. Just post the brand and grade please. Thanks in advance

Up until recently, 20w40 Yamalube for the Yamaha.
Now Yamaha has changed the grades to offer 10w40 or 20w50. I'll go with 10w40 Yamalube from here on.

Shell Rotella 15W-40 (diesel oil) works great with wet clutch engines. Any motor oil that does NOT contain friction modifiers is wet clutch friendly.

I did a bit of research on this the last few days and came up with the same answer. Here is the list that I found of oils that are wet clutch friendly Castrol RX Super 15w40 Chevron Delo 400 15w40 Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15w40 Pennzoil Long-Life 15w40 Quaker State 4X4 Synthetic Blend 15w40 Shell Rotella-T 15w40 Super Tech 2000 (walmart brand) 15w40 Valvoline All Fleet 15w40 Castrol Syntec Blend Truck and 4X4 15w40 Anything with an EC (Energy Conserving) grade is a no-no. Those are the ones with the friction modifiers

I run Castrol 20w-50, but I'm thinking that stevec is the smart guy here. I guarantee that Walmart brand is miles (or km's) above anything that existed in 1978.
