See if we can show a number of different styles of alloy tanks fitted to SRs...to show modifiers what's about for consideration... For a start...here's my early TZ350 tank on the black cafe racer: Before - After...26 years later - There's a bit of work in between but the end result was worth it to me. SR

I'd like to have a bigger tank, it doesn't have to be alloy but it sure is a pain having to fill up the tank every single day. BTW, those photos will only load a bit at the beginning and then they die.

Ditto, I have an 80 mile round trip every day. I'm just about to reserve. She might look a little stupid with a four gallon tank though. Less than four gallons wouldn't really help my situation.

Here are a few other examples...one is a 3.5 imp. gallon Norton style tank from Japan thru Deus, and the other pics are of a race bike tank in Japan. These seem to be relatively common in the race circles over there. Nice looking tank really. SR

I just had one custom made. Five gallons should go a bit. Of course filling it these days will double it's value.

Thanks Hopwheels. Wish I could could take credit. It was built by Evan Wilcox in northern Calif. He does beautiful work but, not cheap.

Evan did the tank, tail and front fender for this Norton commando I've been working on for a while. Yes he's spendy but great work and a nice guy. He's teaching metal forming at "The crucible" in Oakland, Ca and I hope to get to his class this fall. www.thecrucible.org

Yes definately looks the part! The only problem for me would be that its sooo shinny I'm sure my lovely lady would notice it and then I may have to tell all & have a real show & tell( I mean she thinks I'm up in the shed sharpening me mower blades)I bet Col hasn't got any shinny alloy tanks on his 32 motorbikes! Cheers Dave.

Here's Rod Tingate's own SR...all his own work of course. Alloy tank and glass seat assembly. The pen work on one pic shows where he later changed the seat to allow it to fit better. A few of us here have Tingate bars, rearsets and pipes to varying degrees... SR
