I think the pic is to big!!! But I'll fix that later((FIXED)). Nice looking arm but if I remember correct, they did flex some in an offroad app. Probably fine for street/track use.
I assume it fits the SR frame and not to much longer than stock?

I assume it fits the SR frame and not to much longer than stock? Again the x-tube is a bit, but just a bit to long for the SR-frame. Can be shortened with a little filing... How much is not much? A bit? Well the KLX swingarm is more than just a bit longer than stock. How much precisely, have to check... waidaminute...

I just measured my stock SR arm and from pivot to axle was 18". My new arm (steel) measures 19 1/4". So, 1" to 1.5" would be about right.

Okay, back from garage.
KLX250 swingarm is 530mm (center to center with rear axle in middle position), which is almost 21"... whereas the KLX shock mounts are in very much the same position as the SR's (distance to swingarm pivot). Regards Sven

That's about 3" over stock. How does it handle with that much wheelbase? What kind of rake/trail numbers do you run? Any problems with the chain length?

I've not yet tried the KLX-swingarm... but with the XT600 device, which ain't much shorter (can measure this tomorrow), handling is o.k. Chain length ain't no problem, but lash is (this has got nothing to do with length of swingarm but of shocks): I installed a skateboard-wheel just under the swingarm pivot, so the chain is not hanging around like it would without. (I've seen many people riding with to much chain tension on their SR because properly adjusted chains seem too loose, especially with longer shocks)

These are some of the swing arms that can be adapted to SRs and XTs. On the far left is a 250cc 1978 KX Kawasaki swing arm, the next one is a 370cc 1978 RM Suzuki swing arm (same as in the photo gallery of the orange racer). Next to that is a stock swing arm for comparision purposes. On the far right is a 250cc 1980 KLX Kawasaki swing arm. Naturally, they all need modifications to fit. Same swing arms from another angle: regards Mark B

Does anyone ever weld reinforcements on the stock swing arm to strengthen it or is it OK as is?

It's not too bad to fit these for the chain run as well...very simple device on the rear lower engine bolt. ... That's what I meant. To me it seems the best place for this is just below the the swingarm pivot, so I've fixed the bolt just there. (the SR frame has two tubes welded in as support for the footpeg carrying devices, one of these is in the correct position...) Regards Sven

Does anyone ever weld reinforcements on the stock swing arm to strengthen it or is it OK as is? I did for the arm on my old frame. I went underneath like the old 1980's superbike style. Typical triangle shape. The down side was that it weighed a ton.

Hi guys
I am in the process of fitting a 85 tt600 aluminium arm to my bike, the width at the front is perfect for the frame but being a monoshock bike I have had too weld shock mounts and also a bracket for the brake caliper torque arm. I now only have to do the chain alignment and make some spacers up. One of the other benefits is that the axle is the right diameter for the stock rear hub. and the arm is only around 40 to 50 mm longer than stock.
I will post up some progress pics in a few weeks, I would do it now but am on holiday in the states until the end of the month.
Cheers Rich
