wanabe from Orlando

I am a professional optician and former pro musician living in Orlando Fl. I have been into VWs for most of my life and have had a desire to get a bike for many years. I had a scooter for a bit back in the eighties and it was cool. I have been reading and lurking on various sites and have narrowed my search to a couple of bikes depending on what I want to do. I am currently looking at an XS650 or an SR500 or possibly an SR400 if a cheap one came my way. Wanting to learn to ride proper with a basic bike and then customize it as a street tracker ala
bratstyle (sr500)

or bobber (xs650).

So I will be asking lots of newbie questions and wearing out the search button.
