I have been visiting your site for over a year now and decided to become a member. I am a 500 guy from way back and still have the TT500 I bought in 78 as a desert bike. I purchased a 79 SR500 about 3 years back from a local for $1400.00. I have a lot of spares and experience I've gathered over the years from running the TT, so the SR seemed a good choice for a street bike. The SR had a lot of goodies with it , but was built as the cafe racer and I found ergonomics difficult (being kind). It also had some craftsmanship issues, but lots of potential. I have changed it back to mostly the original layout with some mods. I'll post some pictures after I figure out how-to of what it looks like after my first pass at it. It is currently apart again as I attempt to get the weight under 300lbs with fuel, the HP up to 45, brakes that feel like something better and sort out the suspension for my weight. In comparison to the TT which has a very similar state of tune, The SR seems to rev much slower due to ( I believe) the heavier crank assembly and massive 9 lbs flywheel, but still is quick allowing for the technology of its day.
