Hello! This is Jerry from Marysville, WA. I am getting back into motorcycling after a lapse of 25 years. My last street bike was a Yamaha 850 special, 1981. Got it in brand new in my early twenties and set new records for speeding tickets (documented 115mph in a 55 zone). I mean really, how can they sell a bike that will exceed the national speed limit in first gear?........Ahhh....to be young and immortal. It was my only transportation - rain or shine - summer or winter, for two years. Now, 25 years later, I'm feeling the hankering for a new ride. The bikes selling today just don't appeal to me. Don't want or need a 100 hp crotch rocket. Harley's sound great, but cost more than my parents home and are like big rolling lounge chairs .........not the direction I'd like to take. Old BMW's are cool, but expensive. I came across the Deus Ex Machina website and saw a bike that really caught my eye. A bike stripped to the essentials.......a bike where form follows function, a minimalist expression of the sport of motoring..... and a bike that just screams attitude....it was an SR500 (actually SR400 for the Australian market). I want a bike that doesn't know what a computer chip is, that doesn't have "check engine" lights, doesn't need a laptop for diagnosis. I want a SR 500 - one cylinder, two valves, one carburetor! Please welcome me to the SR 500 Forum!
