Ive been on the hunt for a decent lathe for months now, looks like ive found one.
It's a hercus model a, pretty small capacity but they are a really well made classic lathe. Aside from this they are aussie made and all the bits for em are readily available.
If there is anything anyone needs turned up, by all means give me a shout as I will probably end up moving my bed out into the workshop lol.

Lol. I'm very fortunate to work in a tool & die shop where I have access to the lathes and 3-axis CNC mills. There is so much stuff that you can use them for, it's a wonder how some DIY'er's get along without one. Got any better specs on the lathe you bought? We use LeBlond's for almost all of our work. 19" swing with 12' beds. Also have a gap-bed LeBlond with a 36" swing.

It's basically a clone of the south bend model a. I almost bought a leblond 13" a coupla months ago but someone outbid me on evilpay. The thing that really pissed me off was discovering that just the tooling that came with the leblond was worth about ten times as much as the sale price.
The hercus is basically just a 9" bench lathe, they are a really well built copy of the early 9" south bends.
If I had the money I would be trying to get hold of a bigger lathe but I reckon this one should do alot of what I need done, if I need a bigger machine I can use the ones at school.

Hey Hey Raff! Now you're speaking my language!
I might need some wheel spacers turned out at some stage. Give me a couple of days and i'll be using and abusing you all the time!

I figured there would be some people needing some stuff for wheels. I am also bidding on a milling machine at the moment, if I get that I should be able to make custom rear hubs for spoked disc wheels.
Or at the very least I should be able to modify some existing ones to fit, there is also a polini big bore kit for the aprilia rs125 that I wanna fit ontoa smallframe engine block.
