Hello everyone! It's great to see I'm not the only one addicted to this bike. Long story short: After a short hiatus of not riding .... about twenty five years .... a co-worker had posted his bike for sale on the community bulliten board. Told me he bought it from the original owner, but never rode it cause he couldn't keep it running, so left it sitting in his garage for a couple of years. When I asked what he wanted for it, he said to make an offer, so I did. Probably shouldn't say what I gave for it, cause It could be cosidered a crime to pay so little for it. But hey, in my own defense, I had thought, what could a bike built in 1978 be worth anyway, right? 
And the fact he threw in a second 78 SR 500 for free ... well, doesn't really count, does it? So, here I am with this old bike in my driveway ;D and he was right. Every time I got it started, all it wanted to do was backfire and spew large flames out the exhaust. I took it to a local dealer for help. Well, it seems that the original owner decided when he bought it to get it equipped with the oversize piston, the biggest carb they made for it at the time, the supertrapper exhaust, and K &N filter kit. But then the mechanic told me that for some reason the carb was never rejetted. Oh. ok. Gotta admit that when I first got it I kinda figured I would probably just trade them for something newer. But then, I took it for a ride yesterday. Well, guess I don't have to tell you guys the rest of the story. I'll post some pics later and let you tell me ... am I really sane?
