A couple of year ago, I bought a mint 1980 Yamaha SR500G with only 5K miles on it. It looked great, but it ran poorly. I knew the carb had to be rebuilt. It promptly went into storage because I had several other projects that I was working on. At about the same time, I got a hair up my a$$ that I wanted a sidecar. I had a grand dream of taking my daughter to her first day of kindergarten in an outfit. How cool would that be!! Not knowing much, I bought a used sidecar on eBay. Turned out it was a pretty rare Bingham Mark I built by Side Strider Inc. in California. At the time, I wasn't sure what I was going to rig it to. The SR500 and Bingham sidecar sat in dark storage next to each other for the next two years. I guess that they developed a secret longing for one another. In February, I bought a beautifully restored 1978 Yamaha SR500E with a Jawa Velorex 560 sidecar rigged up. I was having so much fun with it, that I wanted to share my joy with my brother. We were going to become sidecarists! So last month my brother and I decided we'd make it happen. We tuned the SR and cleaned up Bingham. The ceremony was held this weekend and they were married. Here's a picture of the new outfit. The sidecar needs paint and upholstery. So here's a question. Does anyone know the paint code for 1980 Yamaha New Ruby Red? If yes, please post in the Paint Codes thread I've started. Pictures of the rigging will be forthcoming.

Here's a picture of the painted sidecar. I still have a few things to finish it off. Bike is going to get dirt tracker handlebars, convert to spoke wheels, XR400 oil cooler, running/stop lamp on sidecar fender, pinstripe sidecar, reproduce sidecar seat, interior panels, and carpet. You can check out the following gallery for pictures of the mounting. cycomoto.smugmug.com/gallery/4754025_wYKVx/1/307685345_CZUAnAll done with modified Velorex mounts. It is mounted to the bike in five spots, with one being to the frame on the opposite side. Totally over-engineered. That's how I roll.
