Started a new thread thinking that this might be interesting to all; I don't know if it's been mentioned here before.
Omars Dirt Track Racing (http://www.omarsdtr.com I think) makes an adapter kit to use a 19" cast front wheel (from XS650, same as SR500 front) on the rear of an XS650 with a disc brake, for street trackers.
I would think this same kit (with minor mods) could be used with an XS650 front spoke hub laced to an 18" rear rim for you rear-spoke-disc-wanting bodgers. I believe the XS (and SR) front axle is the same 17mm as the SR rear axle. Side-to-side offset would be slightly different than the XS, you'd have to allow for that. Not sure about caliper placement but spacers should do for that, and since the stock caliper clears spokes when used on the front no reason it shouldn't on the back. Sprocket attachment stuff handled by the kit. No cush drive of course.
Just an idea. The kit is expensive but there's a picture to give you ideas for home-rolled equivalents.
