Rechroming hurts in the cost stakes, and its really a case of you get what you pay for.
You have probably already done so, but try ebay and the like, may get something in pretty top nick that won't cost near as much. A seller from Germany often has parts up for grabs
Or in Sydney, Deus Ex Machina sells new bobbed fenders and other parts that may again be cheaper, but not what you're after if you're looking to go original. However they bring new ones in and customise them, so maybe you could ask if they have any of the bits for sale?
What are yuo looking to get done? Things like handlebars, shocks etc can be had be cheaper as new.

Good chromers are far and few between now days. You will find a place in Artarmon that does an ok job. Another is a chromer in Liverpool (something shine??? sorry forget the name exactly) but the one i would recommend is up in Newcastle. If you want the details send me a personal message. As milkman said it depends what you want chromed, their is a lot of fenders coming off brand new bikes (SR400's) if fenders are what you are after?? Stainless fenders polish up nice as well.

Was looking to get the header pipe rechromed which I will bolt a Supertrapp pipe onto... The bike also came with spoke wheels but the rims are a dodgy grey colour. Not sure whether they will polish up or not. Might have to get them done too.. The front and rear fenders are both pretty much in rust free condition and I am not sure whether the rear fender will even be staying at this stage.

Holmesboy Try this web page it's not chrome but their high gloss ceramic coatings are supposed to be pretty bullet proof and not incredibly expensive. www.hpcoatings.com.au/Cheers Rich

I think RD is on a winner there.
I think Jet Hot?? do a similar thing. There coating apprently helps reduce the heat coming off the pipe aswell.
If yuo fork out to re-chrome it, you'll probably cry when it starts to blue differently to than you may have hoped.
Header pipes often pop up on ebay internationally, so have a look there. Deus in Sydney will do a supertrapp on a new mandrel bend head pipe for $600 fitted if you have the coin.
As for the spokes, I have the same deal on my front wheel. The back one was re-spoked in stainless for about $90 I'm told.

Hi guys I use a chrome plating shop in southern Sydney (taren point ) called "Enware" but you will have to wait some time if they have to polish metal as well as chrome plate better to polish yourself if you can ..T.C.
