Yeah that's nicer. The headlamp shade is a cute touch. You'd still have to warn your passenger not to get in until *after* the kickstart...

Hmm that's what I could do with a spare SR , jetski & a few other bits that are lying around . Just 1 query ,as I can't actually remember seeing a sidecar ! Do they go on a specific side or are they on different sides for say Oz or the states? Cheers Dave.

Dave, Drivers in the middle, passengers on the outside, left in Aust/Britain, right in the US - which is why Ural cant release a registerable version of their sidecar with the enageable two wheel drive in Aus, only works when mounted on the right side of the bike. If you want to see some crazy home-engineered sidecars from Aus have a look at this link www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=300514&highlight=leylandThere's a fella from West Aust who put a leyland V8 car motor in a goldwing.

I've ridden in a sidecar twice and didn't like it. Once sailing down the 401 (a major multi-lane highway) here in Canada, in a sidecar attached to a 1983 Gold Wing, The eighteen wheel transports only a couple of feet away at 75mph and looking about two stories tall and absolutely no control at all...not for me.

On the topic of sidecars, this is from a rally on the Murray River from some time ago. Is this anyone here? Come on, you can admit to getting bogged......

I bought this 1978 SR500 and Velorex Jawa 560 sidecar rig last week. My brother and I drove 2000 miles roundtrip in 48 hours to pick it up and take it home. She now resides in Atlanta, GA. The outfit is absolutely gorgeous. The previous owner, Joe, did a fantastic job restoring it. It is the first bike I've bought (and I've bought a lot of others) that I didn't know what to do to make it any better. It's perfect. It was featured in the July 2007 issue of Cycle Canada. Weather permitting, I will be taking her out for the first time tomorrow. More pictures to come.

Here's a picture of my newest rig in the stable. 1980 Yamaha SR500G with a 1970 Bingham Mark I sidecar. I am starting a new thread under Bike Projects since this is a work in progress.
