The wife is interstate at a work conference at the moment and left me to get some work done on my SR racer.
On Saturday I stripped the brake calipers and master cylinders to clean and overhaul them. I stripped all the original paint off and repainted them with VHT high temp satin black, which is the same paint that I have had good results with on my XT/TT engines.
I cured the paint (200F for 1 hour) in a small electric oven that I have in my shed that I use for heating bearing and crankcases etc.
While these bits were cooking I started cleaning up the mag wheels that I am using. After hours of effort to get all the crap old paint off and masking them up I sprayed them with the same high temp satin black paint.
Now how to cure the paint? The wheels were to big to fit in the shed oven, but the wife's away! After a quick check with a tape measure, I cured the paint in the gas oven in the kitchen, one wheel at a time. They look real good now.
I had to swear the cat and dog to secrecy, what the wife does not know about, can't hurt me!

I got caught this week with side pannels in the sink and tried to fake I was doing dishes. Did not go over really well.

For the Aussies,
Anyone rembember the ad last year with the guy in the garage and his wife asking "What is this that was in the dishwasher?" or words to that effect, and him replying a its a Ford rocker cover! or something along that line.
Well, we don't have a dishwasher our house, but I am setting one up in the shed (its great what you can pickup when you work for an electrical store) and going to see how it goes cleaning up a set of really dirty TT500 crankcases.
Of course, she who is the boss, complains that I won't install a dishwasher in the house.

Col thats agreat idea ! Make sure you install a decent hot water system & crank the temp up to as high as it goes . I'm now spewing about the old dishwasher I gave to my neighbor last year . I wouldn't even risk putting my shed gear in my new one , I'd lose way to many points (they're very scarce around these parts at the moment anyway) . Good luck to ya Dave.

Hallo, i can`t follow her anymore, bike under the stairs in the livingroom, crankcases washed in the dishwasher, crank in the freezer, cases in the oven, engine asembly in the kitchen and now she won`t allow me to do any sanding/polishing of the aluminium parts in the livingroom anymore, guess i overplayed my hand.
best regards sjef

The smell has cleared from the house, so unless the dog dobs me in I think I am ok with my little bit of "cooking".
It seams everyone has the same issues, they want us to spend more time with them, but they don't want to come out to the shed for fear of getting dirty, but they won't let us bring anything inside. Go figure!

That add was a classic.
Was it for Repco or a dish washing powder?
Its the greatest of double standards. Try getting them to put things back in the shed where they belong.
If you're planning to make a stand or prove a point, it can be a long, lonely campaign. I came out triumphant accidentally. My GF actually didn't like me sleeping on the couch, seemed to take it personally as if its something wrong with her. I fell asleep watching tv one night, stayed there the next night when I came home after the pub to not disturb her, and again fell asleep watching tv the third night consecutively.
Next day a white flag was raised.
It was a small victory in a long campaign.....notice the past tense used.
